Update

Well, I have some bad news to share. On March 1st I was walking on icy ground, carrying a box, when I slipped. I fell and landed on my knee. While I previously thought that it wasn’t a significant injury, after 3 weeks when it continued to hurt I went to get it checked out. It turns out that I managed to fracture my kneecap. I’m in a knee immobilizer for the next 3 weeks, and then it will take until July before I can hike again without the risk of re-opening the fracture. I still really want to hike the Appalachian Trail this year, and I’m going to do everything I can to heal quickly and hit the trail in July.

Blog Started! (Day -50)

Welcome to my blog

This post is to test out the blog, and to announce some important dates. I will finish my last exam on March 20th, leave Evanston/Chicago March 22nd, and quickly stop by Bethesda to do a last minute test of my gear. If that goes well, then I'll be off to Springer Mtn. Georgia for a start date of March 25th, only 50 days away! In the meantime, I'll be continuing to improve this blog, and finalize my gear.
